How do you choose a safe and reputable aesthetic practitioner?

I know how exciting it can be when you begin to consider aesthetic procedures. The anticipation of awaiting the finished result can be one of the best parts. But before you get too ahead of yourself, there are some important things you need to consider, to ensure the procedure is safe and fitting to your expectations as possible.

1. The Practitioner

When it comes to non-surgical cosmetic procedures, you are looking for a full-time aesthetic practitioner with a medical background, ideally as a doctor or nurse. A practitioner who works full time in the industry will have a higher skill level injecting fillers than a neurological consultant who does occasional aesthetic procedures on the side.

I often say the key to receiving the best results, is by simply choosing the best practitioner. Now what I mean by this is qualifications and experience!

You should always ensure your practitioner is registered, qualified and up to date prior to booking your procedure. To verify this information, check out Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), which will provide you with all the necessary details.

2. The Business

Ask the practitioner how long they have been working in the industry for and how many procedures they have undertaken. Never feel like you’re asking too many questions, a good practitioner will be honest and insightful in answering any job-related questions you may have.

Remember, you don’t just have to rely on what they tell you. Go and check their website and social media pages for yourself, they do say a picture speaks a thousand words. Before and after photos will also provide the perfect insight of the practitioner’s expertise and will help determine whether the finished results meet your desired outcome.
